Salmonella Outbreak Linked to Super Greens Diet Supplement Powder Affects 45 People Across 21 States
A recent health alert has revealed a concerning issue with the Super Greens diet supplement powder, a popular health product. At least 45 individuals across 21 states have fallen ill with salmonella food poisoning, prompting a nationwide recall of the affected products. The affected products, manufactured by Superfoods Inc., include the original and wild berry flavors, with expiration dates ranging from August 2026 to January 2028.
The illnesses were reported between August 22 and December 30, 2025, with a significant number of cases (at least 12) leading to hospitalizations. Fortunately, no fatalities have been attributed to this outbreak, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Superfoods Inc. has issued a critical recall, urging consumers not to consume, sell, or serve the affected products. These should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase immediately. The affected products were distributed nationwide, and the FDA's investigation continues, indicating the possibility of additional contaminated products.
Salmonella poisoning symptoms typically manifest within hours or days of consuming contaminated food, causing symptoms such as diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps. While most individuals recover without medical intervention within a week, the infection can be severe in young children, adults over 65, and individuals with compromised immune systems.
