Patrick Mullins on Mighty Park's Triumph and the Weekend's Key Runners
The sky is the limit for Mighty Park, a runaway winner of a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse on Thursday, according to Patrick Mullins. JP McManus' charge, making its debut for the Closutton team, took the lead as soon as the tapes went up and left its rivals in the dust, beating stable companion Roc Dino by a staggering 38 lengths. So, was the team expecting such a dominant performance?
"Absolutely!" Mullins exclaimed to Sporting Life. "I did my best to keep him in bumpers this year, but unfortunately, I was overruled. He's a stunning horse, one of those that truly captivate your attention. He's reminiscent of Final Demand, and with a sire like Walk In The Park, he produced an extraordinary performance. He just ran and jumped circles around the competition. Of course, he had an eight-pound allowance because he hadn't won a bumper race, but I believe he's incredibly exciting for the future, and it's a shame I couldn't keep him in bumpers."
Mullins' enthusiasm for Mighty Park's potential is clear, and with his impressive performance, the horse is certainly one to watch as it continues its racing career.
